CIAT Course Overview

Criminal Intelligence Analysis Training Program

The material presented in this course has been in existence for over 50 years and has morphed into a more modern version since that time. CIAT presents the same time-honoured data with a fresh and ‘real-time’ approach that is presented by someone who has ‘been there’ and knows the ropes.

Whether you are a new graduate of Criminal Justice and are just starting out or you are a seasoned veteran, CIAT delivers practical, organized and effective approaches that provide a template for gathering information and turning it into useable Intelligence. It teaches you how to present your findings to Management and to investigators who need to utilize what you offer in the prosecution of crime. CIAT is not a theoretical hand-off course. It is an experiential and interactive online training program that provides attendees an opportunity to develop the skill sets needed to be effective in their real work environment.

Participants learn the techniques for:

  • gathering information,
  • processing and analyzing it,
  • producing actionable intelligence and
  • presenting it to management and investigators to use in the prosecution of crime and terrorism or in any issues of safety and security.

The training takes a “learn-by-doing” approach. Class exercises are based on real-world crime problems that investigators and analysts are expected to solve each day.

Learn from someone who has the Real World Experience to deliver vital and effective Intelligence Analysis Training

It matters that CIAT’s participants get the process down correctly and are not working from false premises about Intelligence (what it is, is not and must be). It takes the expertise of someone who has walked the walk to discern the truth in this complex world. CIAT provides that expertise in the person of Warren Sweeney, the developer of this course.

To assist you in solidifying your skillset, a major exercise is to be completed and submitted for assessment in the final Module. This assignment is a ‘hands-on’ practicum that will give you the opportunity to apply the tried-and-true approach to Criminal Intelligence Analysis that you have learned and developed throughout the course.  You won’t need to figure out how to apply all the theory you learned to your real life work because this course builds that bridge for you. It gives you solid guidelines for uncovering the golden nugget of truth that can make the difference between the success or failure of any criminal investigation. This course delivers a blueprint you can carry with you that is an immediate asset in any area of policing and security that your career might take you.
